Why is my password weak?

Password Strength overview

The best way to protect your account is to make sure that you have created a strong password. To help you with this, we have a checker in place to determine the strength of your password. It will rank your password as weakmedium, or strong. Only passwords deemed to be medium or strong will be accepted.

The password checker tests the password by comparing it to different dictionaries of "common sense" passwords.

weak password uses one or two common English words which make sense (even if there is a first/last uppercase letter) with or without some "common" addition to it, such as "abc" or "123", etc.
Examples for weak passwords:

  • Horse123
  • ReallyStrong
medium password is at least 7 characters long, combination of two random "common" words and any character/number addition to them or a random set of letters/numbers without a pattern.
Examples for medium passwords:
  • GingerCrocodile123
  • zbjaip123
strong password is at least 11 characters, combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols without any pattern. Two or more words with uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special symbols may also work.
Examples for strong passwords:
  • aop78zasl@$
  • GingerCrocodile123(
Note: Those rules may have exceptions depending on how much "sense" does the password make.
